I was let go and found a new job in 3 weeks, started it in 6. Quiet quit, let them let you go so you can take the severance and collect unemployment
Felt like this all of 2023 and Q1 2024, quit with nothing lined up in May. Fortunate to not have many obligations at my age and wanted to take some time off to find myself and get re-centered. Have had multiple final round interviews where I didn’t receive an offer, and have had a ton of conversations that are promising for early 2025. Still have nothing right now and there are definitely highs and lows of that loss of income, but I haven’t looked back since and am personally starting to feel whole again for the first time in years.
The loss of income stings and seeing my friends promoted while I’m trying to figure myself out has definitely caused an internal conundrum but I’m trying to be optimistic about it. I’m lying in the bed that I made and truly taking this time to reflect on what’s more important to me than the job title and company I work at. It definitely takes discipline to get out of bed and set up calls/network/do online learnings to keep your mind sharp but I’m also grateful for the ability to do this, and I’d much rather do this now at the age of 25 than have the same epiphany further down the road
Depends. How many months of living expenses you have save?
Stick with it, at least until you have something lined up. You will soon realise how much nothing really matters. Arbitrary deadlines exist everywhere. Internal pressure everywhere. You’re in a privileged position where you are, and you will thank yourself even if you just stick at it until you feel a change in mood toward the role. It will happen. Quitting is the easy option.
Don't quite with an another opportunity lined up
Without*
Took me a year and 2 months to find a new gig that didn’t even pay as well. So unless you have savings to cover you for an extended period of time or don’t mind working odd jobs to cover bills while looking I would advise against it right now.
I was fortunate to take some time to recharge but after my initial time off I was drained from how bad the market was.
