Revisit this 3-4mo post partum, at the earliest. So many unknowns at this point. How will delivery go? Will your baby eat well? Sleep well? How about your physical recovery (never mind pre pregnancy weight)? Mental health? Your marriage? Very little of this is in your immediate control.
Don’t get your heart set on a plan. Life has a way of getting what it wants out of you.
100% agree with this. You know nothing until baby arrives.
Mine are 2 years apart and I wish I had waited just a little longer. Having 2 under 3 is a lot when working FT in a stressful job.
As a someone with siblings close in age (3 of us, 3 years apart) it was great growing up with them and now they’re my best friends. We’re all at similar stages in life and exchange career advice etc. it was great then and great now.
This is what I want—3 kids 3 years apart, but I’m 33 and just getting engaged, so it’s probably too late :(
i'm 32 and expecting number 2. they will be 21 months apart. throwing caution to the wind but i have heard kids can do things together more easily when they are closer in age. there are pluses and minuses with every gap. i think it also depends on how senior you are in your career. i've heard that it might be a bit easier to juggle to be more junior with less work responsibilities.
This might go without saying, but it might be a question to consider again after birth and postpartum recovery. You might find you need more/less time when parenthood is in full swing
Also working full time and plan to continue. Want two kids if health and life grants us that blessing!

Also...think about spacing a bit duecto college costs.
I got pregnant with my second just before my first turned one year. It was the best decision absolutely zero regrets. Yes that first year was a little crazy but it was so nice having them both nap at the same time, get out of diapers around the same time, now they are best buds and play together beautifully (when not fighting which is like all the time lol). Go for it!!

I like and am aiming for 2-3 years apart just bc that’s what I grew up with (and a large part of why I’d even have a second kid)
Almost 5 years here. Was too long but was the soonest it felt even possibly feasible. Billed 2000 hours by august mat leave.
Upside is that both kids got a lot of attention. Breastfed both for a long time etc.
I wanted two when I was 28 weeks along too. I had an easy birth, after which I got pretty debilitating post partum anxiety. It was really horrific and took a while to climb out of.
It also turned out I couldn’t get back to my pre pregnancy weight because I had a 4 finger diasthesis.
I have a 5 year old and I had pretty expensive plastic surgery in 2021 to sew my abs back together. I was 33 when I gave birth and in fantastic shape, but the diathesis was so bad I looked 5 months pregnant all the time until I went under the knife.
Not saying this to be a downer, but the best laid plans….
Weight wise, it could go the other way too (though I've told been that's less common). I lost all baby weight plus an extra 20 lbs. I do not work out or go on special diets. I think it was just breastfeeding (but that may not work the same way on everyone...)
My brother and I are 14 months apart, 1 year apart in school. My parents said it felt like raising twins because we were always pretty much in the same stage. I love how close I’m age we are!!
