Because we spend way too much money sending interns to Orlando to drink koolaid.
Round table meetings are barely underway. Delayed results hoping people quit before any raises are finalized to free up some more $$ for the partners.
Skip promotion parties and give me the money.
EY 5, our "holiday parties" were reduced to happy hours, luncheons, or TopGolf without significant others in North FL last year. It completely depends on your office.
There are events in place for manager and senior manager promotions in Orlando usually for a week in December
Yeah EY holiday parties are not nearly as nice as PwC... in Boston at least.
There are promotion events for seniors, managers, and senior managers. Tax sends everyone to Orlando for 4 days in November/December. Audit does celebrating seniors in various locations every other year. Not sure about advisory.
I've been asking the same thing!
I don't know what kind of extravagant holiday parties EY5 is attending, but my office has had 2 years in a row of a lame happy hour at a bar/arcade without guests, on a Friday in January.
NYC used to have nice holiday parties, but they down full open bar to only beer and wine.
Boston still has open bar for holiday parties. We used to have the promo event at Fenway but they're not allowed to say it anymore...but we still do the event.
Because we get compensated on other things. Why would you look only for one day on a week?
We also have bigger and mpre ectravagent holiday parties.
Advisory also has the same policy in place.
Oh yeah? They send indirect tax seniors to Orlando?
Everyone goes to Orlando in the fall for the "milestone" aka promotion event / celebration. All service lines and groups (audit, tax, advisory)
EY9, the assurance practice in the central region has never been to Orlando. I'm pretty sure it's only tax that goes to Orlando
EY6 that can't be right. It is a if event every year and all service lines go. I'm audit in Boston and I've been and it still happens every year. Is no one in your area getting promoted or are their schedules too busy?
Assurance has celebrating seniors in Atlanta or Dallas. Other milestones are in Florida though.
When you say Orlando, does that include Disney?
Yeah, free food, drinks as well
