How different is the progression in tech vs consulting? There’s a cool role at Datadog I’m good fit for, but I’ll hit Sr. Con soon and feel like the opportunities that come with “senior consultant” on my resume are miles better.

I’d wait until you are at senior level and see what doors may be open. I don’t even know what Datadog is so you may be better staying where you are at regardless.
It’s a security tool and I’m in CyberSec, so it’s a good exit for me. I’m not looking for the normal corp strat and ops roles, but staying until I hit senior makes sense. Thanks for the input!
Consulting has fast progression in title but slow progression when it comes to comp (even the raises that come with promotions aren't that good)
Tech companies have slow progression when it comes to title - but they have super fast progression when it comes to total wealth (compliments of huge equity packages)
Really depends on whether you value title or pay....and more importantly whether you have the skills to quick succeed in the tech space (this requires tech skills)
Yeah that makes sense. Going from fresh college hire to SC and leading projects in 2 years feels good until I see the tech comp packages
Seems like my best bet is to hit SC then evaluate my options then.
Ty!
