Just old off, all 3 will be acquired by the big 4
It's McK and Bain for starters. And it is very difficult. Bain apparently hasn't done too well lately, but McK and BCG are doing well.
There are always rumors of Bain not doing well/Bain being acquired. Typically the rumors pick up around recruiting season. Conspiracy? 🤔
Not conspiracy, necessarily. They aren't doing poorly but a good indicator is number of consultants over time. They were once twice our size now about half our size.
On OP's question, coming in post undergrad pre-MBA is possible but not normal. Best way in is knowing someone - and since you'd probably be only a couple years out of school your school scores will count a lot, as well as what you've been doing since. Also you may come in as a first year anyway.
Can't comment on the culture piece sorry
plenty of industry hires to associate/senior associate pre mba. Both engineer and business/consulting background types. Nearly impossible at consultant level without an advanced degree of some kind (JD, MD, etc works though)
