Just grab a sleeve of golf balls. Throw two in a pond and 1 in the woods. Hand $100 to some stranger, yell at a bird/gopher/squirrel/woodchuck then drink a lot of beer. Congrats. You're now a golfer.
I thought it was strokes OR get in the hole
Coach is the only way, or else swing is most likely gonna be ugly
Put (pun intended) the effort into practice
Lol bcg1
Take a lesson on the driving range
Find a friend to learn with. Me and my buddy played this chip and putt game which made us much better. It was like horse: you start from off the practice green and try to get it in the hole with lower strokes than your opponent. If you do it you give them a letter. You get much better and it's FUN!
Do any of you do that simulated thing to improve strokes?
When do you buy a kit
Dont buy a simulation go hit the real thing
Also YouTube when your stroke goes to shit.
OP, go to Target and buy a $100 set of clubs. Make an appointment for golf lessons. Take 5-10 lessons with the same person to really work on initial mechanics. Find a driving range and a 9-hole executive course near you and play once a week for a month or two. Be sure to look for courses that offer night golf...it's a blast! After that you'll be hooked. (No pun intended). Fair warning, the set of clubs won't last long. There is a HUGE upside to having a set that is custom to you. You can get a sweet set of Pings for 7-800. Sounds like a lot but if you follow my advice above you will quickly outpace the cheap set and will find real skill upgrades with the good set.
Thanks so much acc1- is there an beginner brand you recommend?
Assoc 1 did you mean get a coach? Also does reading theory help
Try not to hit the windmill or clown
Ya coaches can fix flaws in your swing and teach theory quickly. The hardest part is having it in muscle memory...
Go here: https://www.rockbottomgolf.com. Get a cheap Tommy Armour set, a $100-150 driver, and get some good shoes. Don't skimp on those. Once you've got your mechanics down invest in good Pings, Taylormade or Callaways. I'm a Ping guys but it's personal preference at that price point. Have fun!
Thanks acc1- the callaway set for women sounds steep but will research some more
I got the Callaway Solaire set for my wife. She loves it. Then again she is beast on the golf course.
Awesome Acc1
