Many former law enforcement officers and field professionals have successfully transitioned to other industries. To make a successful transition, it is important to emphasize the skills that are transferable and relevant to the new industry. Depending on the job, these vary widely.
Officers are usually good with communication and public speaking skills, problem solving, report writing, customer service/interpersonal skills, knowledge of safety protocols, and understanding of existing regulations. If you fall anywhere in this list, then you could definitely be a good fit in just about an industry.
Experienced law enforcement and field personnel understand how to react quickly in difficult or unfamiliar situations. Leveraging these strengths can help you demonstrate your value in the new industry.
Could you give us a bit more information about your skills, what you know how to do, and how long you've been working for?
