My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? I Will be Joining PWC AC B as SA2 on Sept 2,2022. Just want to know about Appraisal cycle. Is it Mid Year or Annual appraisal process. Also, will I be eligible for next appraisal cycle ? Tried asking the same Question to HR, but didn't get a proper response. She just mentioned as per company policy.

One of my girlfriends in PR got laid off in - get this - a GROUP Zoom call. 20 some-odd people all on the same video conference. Mostly lower level staff (interns and coordinators), and then her, a Director. Not so much as a head’s up or a separate conversation. She’s pretty gutted. Not that it happened, but HOW it happened. Like many layoffs though, it’ll probably be for the best in the long run. Good riddance!
Leave it to a PR firm—which should be good at handling crises—to mess up their own layoffs. Source: lived through several PR agency layoffs
They’ll schedule a very vague call usually with little notice. I get scared every time my boss calls now because I don’t talk to him very often. Personally I don’t care how the message is delivered. I’ve fired and laid off enough people to know it’s a last resort and there is no talking someone out of it. I always respond like thanks for the opportunity. If you guys get demand give me a call. The only time I was laid off my team called me 6 months later and had a job for me. So be sure to handle yourself well during the call.

This is a bit cruel. You take your laptop home expecting to WFH and all of a sudden you’re laid off. Can’t imagine the number of innocent Dells destroyed with a hammer following this news.
