I did the same. I recognized my values were stability, friendships, community, and free time. Most of my B4 colleagues have way more impressive careers than me, nicer houses, etc. but I have the most amazing fiends, fun weekends, and overall quality of life. You can always go back but if you strongly don’t want to, you made the right decision for you.

I stayed in PA entirely too long chasing the dangled carrot and ever since I left I am happier than ever. I work a chill 9-5 job with $200k salary in MCOL that’s full remote.
Some of the staff I mentored are now partners and I’m not jealous at all. Time is more valuable than money IMO. I have so much less stress and more time with my kids and FOR MYSELF.
Did you worked in one industry while you were in PA?
I switched service lines for no busy season, less hours overall, and much higher pay. Didn't lose a step in my progression and doing well in my current role. I still compare myself to my old group if it was the right choice for me etc. I definitely made the right choice but you always have a sense of doubt, for the most part
