Hello All,
I have recently joined FIS Global around end of April. My mother recently met with an accident and she needs to be operated.
I haven't been able to update the anything regarding the insurance part yet on FIS portal.
Will my mother's treatment be covered under the insurance? If yes, what's the procedure for the same? What are the documents that I need to submit in order to claim the amount?
Can anyone please guide?
I am a straight , but I kid you not…

I’m sorry for your loss. I was in-house and they told me to take as much time as I needed, which turned out to be at least a month tying up loose ends on the other side of the country, etc.
It’s really up to the manager, and I understand “however long you need” isn’t always or even often possible in which case the hr policy applies. This place was very “hr,” but I’m pretty sure my dept head just never told them I was gone, and my coworkers simply covered for me
That’s a fantastic team. Very sorry for your loss.
Normally there an HR policy in place that allows for a certain amount of days. When I worked for a Havas (Pharma) agency and my father passed away, the ECD told me to take however much time I needed. Very nice, but I wanted to put things in place and resume normal work life quickly (avoiding idle thinking time—keeping myself busy).
As a manager, it’s really up to the person affected. If they need time off, how do you not give it to them? If they are more comfortable working, that wouldn’t be my choice but it’s their decision. I do like to think that we will find a way to figure out anything that needs doing if/when they need the time off.
It was brutal. 5 days bereavement. Not enough when a parent dies.
That's what we have at Publicis. But you can take more it you talk to HR.
I’m sorry for your loss. When a parent passed unexpectedly on the other side of the country, I had 5 bereavement days. However, I had a lot of flexibility with work hours and working remote to take care of the estate over several months after passing. I was not in great shape mentally since I was also managing the estate. Really leaned into my team to help juggle balls when I was out physically and sometimes mentally.
3 bereavement days. Family member lived 24 hours flight time away. Worked remotely EST hours and had 2 days off - one of them to attend funeral.
I took a week when my dad passed.
So sorry for your loss and wishing you strength and support as you navigate this loss.
Some states have implemented laws requiring employers to offer bereavement leave, so you can double-check on that if you are unsure. In states without bereavement leave laws, most employers offer it as part of their benefits package with a formal company policy that defines the who, what, when, where of it all. You can typically locate this in your company’s employee handbook, your employment offer, and/or benefits package. If for some reason you aren’t able to track it down in one of those, simply reach out to your manager for clarification.
