Within 10 years how many times have they promoted you? Good gauge on whether or not it’s time for greener pastures
Once you start having these thoughts, it's time to move on.
Things will begin to feel like a chore rather than something you look forward to . You need a new challenge.
bah humbug
Twice. So about 3.5 yrs at each role. I didn’t come in consultant I have previous experience and grad school.
I’ve been pushing hard for the next one (which is one of if not the most difficult promos to get)
The issue with that is my next promo needs to be tied to net new growth where I can be in more of a program mgr role and unfortunately the govt has been super slow to issue work in the areas I’ve been supporting capture.
This hasn’t just been imparting me but it’s certainly holding me back.
Aside from that I check all the other boxes. But we also have a relatively long line of people in my same shoes.
Chief
Jump.
As much as I enjoy BAH and plan to stay here for the remainder of my career, that is one of the key downsides to our particular business model.
Some of that is inherent to the federal sector, some of that is inherent to how we as a firm do career advancement vs our competitors.
Can I question… have any of the BAH people experienced being hired as an Associate but reporting to a consultant or senior consultant?
I was a Sr. Consultant and had Associates reporting to me but that was 10-15 years ago. It shouldn't be happening today.
