How do you stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in your field? I used to try to attend conferences and read publications but recently have defaulted to podcasts.

Can I ask what podcasts you are listening to? I think more and more people are turning to podcasts because it's easier to manage all the other things you have to do in your life if you can listen to the information rather than sit and read it for an extended period of time. I'd love to listen to a podcast where some engineers are discussing recent publications though, does anyone have recs for something like that?

I have some searches saved in Google News I'll check a few times a week. And I'll try to stay on top of pertinent publications. I've never come across a podcast I wanted to listen to that related to my work. And I'm usually not a good podcast listener anyway, most of them tend to be too unfocused and rambling. I get that they're not supposed to be slick and totally professional, but some of them are like listening to the production meeting and not the actual show.

Google News is a good source

I used to actually set aside some time to just look around and get some different sources of what was going on in the field. Past couple months though have been jam packed with work and life, so I haven’t been on top of anything. I kind of find podcasts hard because I have to give my full attention or just miss everything.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and then I check the news and read articles and publications regularly. Lately I will admit life has gotten really busy so I haven't been able to do that as much but Its still something I try to do from time to time just to keep up with trends.

I’m struggling at the moment to gauge how much I should be getting paid in my position as i feel I’m heavily underpaid for the work I do, which includes managing digital marketing operations across 12+ countries, manage the studio/creatives plus lead on any campaigns and strategies, etc. I’m also remote UK-based although my company is international. So what do you feel a fair UK wage would be for the role? I love my job/team but the stress isn’t worth it for me atm. Thanks in advance!

We are looking to hire a FTE for systems integration. We are using Mulesoft as an IPAAS. I’m part of the hiring team. The pay is 6 figures it is fully remote, the benefits are insanely good and it can be your second job if you are very good. If you are great, it’s probably 15-20 hours of work per weeks. If you are good enough, I will even cover for you to coordinate with your primary job. DM me if you are interested as I’m tired of the crappy recruiting company we are contracted with.

Is genetic carrier screening prior to starting an ivf cycle necessary? I tested and found some disorders. Now my RE won’t start my cycle until my partner is tested. They are saying they will have to do special PGT tests if we are carriers of the same disorder. I am confused. I thought this type of testing was optional and usually recommended if you are using a donor. My guess is that they are booked and pushing me to the Jan cycle. Thoughts?

Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?
