Does anyone have experience with Ben Glass’s “Great Legal Marketing” programs? https://greatlegalmarketing.com
I ordered a free “starter kit” from his company and received a decent-sized box with some books and audio CD’s. Haven’t listened to the CD’s yet, but the books aren’t bad, with plenty of practical advice.
Now he’s running a promotion where you can get two months of his basic-level course for just $19.95 to cover the cost of shipping. It seems that Ben is one of the better-regarded legal marketing “gurus” out there.

Does it really matter? I don't care is someone is red or green, I'm still pinging them a question when I have one
If it doesn't say "in a meeting" I treat it the same as available.
Also, DND has a purpose, but I hate when people abuse it. Just means more emails from me instead of pings
I'm always busy but it always shows as available. But I'm too busy to change it from available to busy 🙃
Frankly it annoys me. Especially when I walk past their desk and see they’re clearly not busy. If that’s busy, then when they’re actually working hard should it be on ‘do not disturb?’ 😑
Sometimes i forget to switch back to available after meetings and etc.
Ours is linked with our Outlook calendar. Our Outlook calendar is linked to our client schedule. It always shows me as busy and you would have to manually change to available..
Sometimes people should just get up and talk in person, venting today to another senior about people two seats over constantly pinging questions. But I agree using busy all day is annoying. 😉
Yeah same here, ours are linked with our calendars which is fine, that's reasonable. This isn't the case though for a couple seniors I know who do this all day, almost everyday. I think it makes staff more hesitant to ping their senior which just reflects what kind of senior those people really are. And I get that someone might be busy, but aren't we all? It would also be good to get management's perspective on this.
I turn it to away before 9am and after 6pm during busy season so people don’t annoy me before I had my coffee or after dinner when I just want to finish my work and go home.
Annoying. They're annoying. I most likely hate that person.
I have a coworker who constantly sets her status to away, and she usually works from home, so no one really knows when they can get ahold of her. It's really annoying because I never know if she stepped away from her computer or just set it to away.
Worst are idiots that set their status to away...
The point of DND is that they can't ping you...
Right, so complaining about people pinging you on DND is dumb because it's easily avoided
I feel like when you are marked as available, then that’s just telling me you are welcoming disruptions. Whereas if you’re marked as busy, then I’ll only reach out if I have a question or need you
You can easily change the settings in outlook so that it doesn't show you as busy based off of your calendar.
Some people use their calendar as a to do list so if they have something on their calendar as a to do it’ll show them as busy on skype. I agree with EY1, it doesn’t matter I’m pinging them anyway
I almost always mark myself as busy/offline because 99% of the time it’s my wanker teammates that ping me when they’re sitting six feet away. It drives me crazy messaging back and forth when you could have a conversation in person that takes less than half the time.
Personally, think you're thinkin about it this to much
