The answer is it depends on both. A few states have protected minimum paid maternity leave (eg CA), but most do not. You won’t be protected by FMLA (federal law protecting you from losing your job bc of pregnancy) unless you’ve been at the new job at least a year. Many workplaces have a similar 1 year requirement to be eligible for paid maternity leave, but it is very firm/workplace dependent.

The above is correct, but it is most commonly up to your employer and whatever their leave policy is. You should ask what it is along with the other benefits they offer during the hiring process.
Federal law gives you job protection but no pay for up to 12 weeks if you’ve worked at a covered employer for at least a year. State law may provide pay or longer protections than federal law, but typically also requires you to have worked at a covered employer for a year. Employers can offer more generous policies than required by state/federal law. Some employers will give all employees parental leave regardless of tenure, or may provide prorated paid leave, even though not required by law, but really depends on the employer.
