Just use trailhead, focus on force, and YouTube. Don’t get suckered into one of those talent stacker programs
Yup just put him on to trailhead after I found out about it a couple days ago. Trying to convince him not to get caught up with the short term goals and have a more long term approach but I think he thinks it’s easy for me to say that with the position I’m in.
Tell him to look into Salesforce Pathfinder. It’s free if he’s accepted and they do a good job of not only cert prep, but networking and helping with interviews and getting them setup with their first job. It may not be with Salesforce out the gate, but with a company in the Salesforce ecosystem where he can work in the platform and get experience. Salesforce is pretty competitive and hard to get into, especially with no experience or degree.
Was going to say the same thing. Pathfinder here, SC at Deloitte now.
Salesforce is going through series of layoffs.
Tell your brother to study Microsoft.
This may be an option to consider.
Microsoft has come up with a platform called Power Apps - to build custom applications.
Also traditionally Microsoft is much more Small and Medium business friendly. Salesforce started that way but is not cheap for small companies.
Your brother may be able to cast a wider net with SMB’s.
I know of many people with degrees and multiple certifications - but are struggling to find entry level positions at least on the IT side.
Entry level positions on IT side do not exist in bigger companies any more.
Your brother may also be better off on Business Analysis side - in which case either of the technologies would not matter much.
I agree with the previous post. I would start with Trailhead and find a local user group. Goal number one meet others and see if they even want to work with Salesforce. Goal two get Administrator Certification.
He’s not in a major city so I didn’t even think of local user group but thanks, will look into it! Definitely a medium term goal of his is to get the Administrator cert
My buddy is in sales at SF with no degree. Obviously you need the experience but that’s not hard.
Yeah I agree that it is possible with no degree just takes more work. My brother has a different mindset than I do so that’s the challenging part but he is just going at a different pace and all I can do is try and help.
Accenture has an apprentice program..
I was aware about the apprenticeship program but thought it only had an old posting but see something new now so thanks for reminding me! It mentions it being in person, I haven’t worked with any apprentices so wouldn’t know if that’s still the case, do you?
