If anyone knows how to transition I’m all ears - interested in reg affairs as well, but not sure how to gain enough specific experience to be considered
consider working in an adjacent field you may be more immediately qualified for like quality, labeling, engineering, technical writing, clinical affairs and then transitioning within your organization. You are also more likely to gain experience through an entry level contract in regulatory and then try to transition to full time work at that company or leverage your experience to work full time somewhere else.
Speaking for medical devices, it's not nearly as in demand as it was a couple of years ago due to changes in the regulatory landscape. For example, the EU MDR timelines got shifted back several years which reduced the urgency for RA personnel to quickly remediate the Technical Documents for devices to continue selling in the EU. Salaries are lower for the same positions now. It's a good, but very challenging field and while there are a lot of remote options, I wouldn't pursue it strictly because it's "chill" because it's certainly not laid back.
