In Covid I’m giving people 4-6 months to gear up to 80%. Although we’ve implemented some training it’s not as easy to onboard as it was before.
At least three months.
3-4 months in I start getting the hang of the place, 6 months in I started feeling like I actually knew what I was doing again
Thanks for your input everyone, it’s great to hear what is normal. I feel pressured to make big changes early but perhaps it’s myself applying the pressure.
Yes, it’s totally normal. It took me a few months to really feel like I knew how the place ticked, new colleagues, idiosyncrasies etc. Differs between people but it’s normal. Rely on your experience and your skills to get through this settling in period. The people around you will be aware that you’re new to the role.
I’d prob say 3 months. In most contracts you sign when starting a new job, the first 3 months are often considered to be a probationary/introductory period. If it isn’t working by 3 months, the agency can terminate a contract based on whether the candidate is capable, reliable and suitable for the role.
But I also consider the probationary period an opportunity to do the same with the agency, and asses whether it’s a good fit for you, your career and your goals for growth.
6 months to actually start nailing the briefs, especially when i onboarded during covid over zoom. Otherwise it'd be probably a bit sooner. It does take time to get used to the brand and also how the clients are and the way you sell your ideas.
3-4 months. Any more and you’re either a CEO/CCO/ECD or going too slow.
Would honestly say 6 months!
