How long is ideal these days to stay at a job simply to ‘put your time in’ and leave on good terms in that sense?
The job isn’t toxic, affecting my health, etc. it’s just not the right job and it’s not what I signed up for. So I want to stay for a minimum period of time. Is that 1 year? 2 years? Less than a year?

I also learned through applying for a transfer that they’ll want me to stay in my job 3-4 years before moving to the department I want to. I’m at 1 year, it seems like a lose-lose

I’m a CPA and originally got into this for a stable / interesting job, but in the long-term I’d like to do something that either influences drafting of tax legislation or helps the public (however naive that may sound). Tips for bankruptcy associates who eventually want to move in-house? 3rd year associate in bankruptcy/restructuring group doing mainly bk lit but a few deals too. Need to stay in BL for at least another year for the money, but eventually want to move in-house. The path to in-house seems more straightforward for general commercial lit or more standard transactional practices. Any tips for someone who’s practice is a bit of a hybrid (and who will never likely do discovery or handle a depo)
