I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

I selected 3 as top - MIT (ambitious dream for foreigner), CMU (more realistic) and Darden (more plan B if money and GMAT don’t work out). Ended up in CMU and it was the best thing happened. Look, you need to be honest with yourself on what you ACTUALLY want from program. Is it just checking a checkbox of prestigious line in CV? (I am not judging at all, that’s ok). Do you want to learn smth? Try something totally different from what you were doing before (or opposite - next level of what you were doing your whole life)? Do you just want to have a couple of year break form work grind and make some useful connections while partying? As long as you are honest you’ll get best experience. I was lucky as it turned out that I got into B school which gave me exactly what I needed at this time - exposure to Business thinking and new experiences while not deviating too much from my core past experience. I was a super-introverted software engineer for 10 years before B school but wanted to see life from other side of things. So CMU was perfect as it made a nice transition for me from my “nerdy developer” to “fancy consultant who knows business” without making it too stressful.
So - be honest with yourself and you’ll get best experience and will always get what you “thought it will be” - school or other matter
I definitely didn't get into my first choice (Harvard). I knew it was a long shot, but I ended up at a public school and it's going pretty well. I'm still concerned that I'm not going to make the kind of connections I had hoped to make in my MBA years but I'm trying to compensate for the lower prestige of my program by just putting myself out there a lot and being as proactive as possible about networking
I got into my first choice in school but then again I wasn't trying to go to Harvard or anything. Nonetheless I was still proud of myself for getting into the program and it was everything I thought it would be. Definitely required a lot of work but I got it done.
