My side hustle is taking on various marketing projects on Upwork, and they're usually only about 5-10 hours a week. My hourly wage is higher on there than at my full-time and I'm thinking I can keep gradually raising my rates there till I can switch to freelancing full-time so I always feel like it's worth the extra time I put in.
I guess in your situation you should consider if the extra 25k is a game changer in your life that is worth the extra stress, and also if you stand to benefit in the future from pursuing a side hustle.
I’d say try it for 3 months, then reassess if you think if it feels worth giving up that extra 7-10 a week.
My side gigs have always leaned towards the being a hobby that makes *some* money over an extension of my job, so the time spent in them doesn’t feel so painful.
But you’ll only know how it feels for this gig once you’re in it.
I have a side hustle as a consultant. I typically work about 5-10 hours a week and bring in an extra $22-25k a year. I think it's definitely worth it, as it doesn't take too much extra time for the amount of extra income. Sometimes I take some graphic design projects for an additional $1-2k, but not very often
I buy/sell vintage jewelry. It's a hobby that pays which is pretty great! I make anywhere from $200-$1000 a month. Definitely worth it because it's something I enjoy.
I have a second job doing marketing for a small business. There is a lot of seasonality to the role with peak season working about 10-15 hours a week and other parts of the year more 5-7hours. I'll end the year with an additional ~$12k or so.
I like it, but I'm also moving up in responsibility in my real job so I'm probably cutting ways with my part time gig in the next year.
