This is one of the reasons why I ended up quitting all together. Now I stay home FT and somehow manage without any of those luxuries I thought I couldn’t live without!
4 yo, 2 yo, third on the way/NYC
When I hear female leadership talking about “work life integration”, the only thing that would get me on board would be an on-site daycare. Now THAT’S true work-life integration and being mom-friendly, not this BS about being able to work from home at 9pm after the babies have gone to bed (after a full day of work).
Holy moly... these costs make me want my unborn baby to stay inside forever! 😔 I dont know how I'm going to manage NYC taxes, rent and childcare
$495/week, 1.5 yo and 3.5 yo, 4 days a week at daycare (though they provide all meals and snacks so no parking lunches at night!!! 🙌🙌🙌)
$3100/month for a 5yo and a 2yo in the Midwest.
Only $80 month for date night babysitter. Meanwhile we’re forfeiting $8000 per month of my husbands salary :/ 18m/SAHD/NYC

Sadly OP, it’s not insane at all. For stellar nannies (tons of great references, proactive, seasoned, etc), this is the norm in certain neighborhoods in nyc (manhattan/boug parts of Bk). Yes you can def get a great nanny for less (esp if you live in a non-boug area), but an experienced nanny knows exactly how much she can get paid in which neighborhoods (unlike our dumb industry, nannies do not undersell each other).
$265/week
3 year old
Daycare
Atlanta suburbs
NYC suburbs, just paid my last $1750/month for my 4 year old’s full-day daycare. She starts private Pre-K next month at $830/month, a bargain! #2 on the way with plans still to be figured out, but when #2 hits 18 months that $1750 daycare bill comes back - alongside the private school tuition for #1.
I paid $3700/mo for a FT nanny for two kids in NYC. Reminds me my Midwest child care costs aren’t so bad. 😫
$950/month/ 3YO/ austin
$2100/month for part time nursery + full time au pair / 2 and 3 yo / FL
$2660/mo for 18 month old in So Cal. In home daycare + nanny to pick her up since I can’t leave at 4:45pm to get her.
$1650/mo for live in au pair to watch 3m full time and 5 yr old in afternoons (kindergarten), Boston
$260 per week, 2 year old, south side of Chicago
$410 per week, 1 yr old in Chicago NW burbs
$1845 for fulltime daycare for my 18 month old in NYC
