This is something I’m really struggling with… following to see what the norm is. It’s just so convenient that I tend to do it too often and the cost is out of control.
I have started to track my expenses in categories and over the last 1.5 years, I average $250 per month eating out (i include take out/ordering in on this) and $375 entertainment (this includes going for drinks, events, sports games, concerts, etc.). Definitely need to cut back.
We order in probably twice/week (that alone is around $100/week) and I usually get lunch when I’m in the office. Sometimes husband also gets food when he’s out. We also both sometimes get coffee out. I’d assume we spend probably $200/week on eating out. We want to cut down but it’s tough. We’re in NYC.
I feel this. It is tough especially if you have busy work lives and don't feel like cooking or making a lunch every day
Maybe $100 these days. I've really been trying to cut back. I'm mostly doing this because I need to get my diet back in check in the worst way, but it's definitely helping on the financial front as well.
Yeah eating out often can definitely hurt the diet. I am similar!
Too much, between going out with my SO and stopping for breakfast or getting lunch probably $200-400 depending on how disciplined I am that month.
I'm somewhere in this range as well but trying to cut back
$200, in NJ.
Once a weekend usually
Yeah. Typically spend about $50 out each week which is enough for my mom and I or my girlfriend and I
Not nearly as much as I spent pre-pandemic. I probably go out once or twice a month these days
Less than 75
$200 to $400 a month. I meal prep from Monday morning until Friday afternoon and then I eat out/order. I live in NYC, so I try to stay on top of my takeout budget because I have seen friends unknowingly spend thousands of dollars on takeout with the use of food delivery apps.
100-300
Before having a kid about $2,000 between my spouse and I. We still feel very guilty about it. We were childless and just found good jobs. We are complete food addicts too btw. Now with our child we luckily don’t have time nor energy to do that anymore. It’s saving us child care money and we are a lot healthier.
I only eat out once or twice a week and it's something cheap, so I would say no more than $40. I spend $400-500 on groceries.
Jeeze. $40 a month eating out 1-2x a week? Where are you eating and what city do you live in where that is possible lol
$0. With student loan payments coming back on us, I had to cut out all the extra expenses. I deleted DoorDash and Uber Eats from my phone.
I have tried this so many times and somehow end up back ordering something
I count using Lyft too , so probably about 200.00 month, as I share food at my house. I stopped eating lunch at fast food and started eating pb sandwiches and speghetioes
$4-5K
Damn, how? Assuming you go out every day, that’s an average of $166 per day. I used to spend about half that and seemed already excessive.
I try not to spend more than like $50 a week on eating out and I really limit myself to only going out to eat once a week. Its something I am trying to get better about.
