I'll knock out a full unit in every class. It'll be a little truncated, but I'll get through it.
I like to keep them as busy as possible. I've also been teaching long enough not to care if they whine about me having the audacity to keep doing my job with break coming. 😃
I will finish Macbeth come hail or high water
I am planning a lot for my sped kiddos😊
Keep things as normal and rigorous as possible with a few surprises of fun thrown in there keeps kids productive and pretty calm right up to the break.
It's definitely not my most productive period, lol. But we managed to get plenty done. Especially for my students who really love learning, they won't let the holidays stop them. But it is a very distracting time.
I'm back in middle school after 10 years in elementary. I teach art so I am pretty excited about students that are capable and don't need hand holding to do their work. For several years this school had a teacher that only did 2D projects and I was asked specifically to make sure they have a variety of types of art to work on.
This week we are working on making honeycomb hanging decorations. 3D paper manipulation is fun and they learn how to make a mobile sculpture. I thought it would take two days, but it has lasted all week and a few kids have asked if they could make a second one while they wait for classmates to get finished. I'm really loving this move!
i need to go thru a unit week for the next three weeks . 2 weeks for christmas break off . Then 10 days of review and then state test.
Two of my 15 are for state testing. 1 day for semester finals. 2 days to review for that test. That leaves me 10 days. We shall see. Probably not a whole unit in Algebra 1.
Honestly, the time between Thanksgiving break and Christmas break is more about trying to control the classroom. I’ll teach my lessons but who knows what will stick.
Just curious what your reaction would be if you had 10 required "planning days" and when you sat down you overheard one admin say to another, "I don't really care about what these people get accomplished as far as planning, I just want them to sit quietly for the next ten days. And because of that view the planning days had lots of poor internet, chaotic groupings that weren't relevant, and some coloring sheets to go with it. How would your attitude be after a day or two. Not pointing fingers but sometimes kids act like certain days don't matter because their teachers agree with them beforehand and plan accordingly. Kids will often rise or fall to our expectations.
Well, we have a big test that the kids have to take that's coming up in another week, so...

I have a set amount that I get through, but I’m used to the schedule. We will get about 10 days worth of stuff done on 15 days due to our first basketball tournament of the season and the various events causing distractions.
About a week more. Next week we will prepare for the final
same here
I have a schedule and keep it. I remind them the break is on date x and not before.
