Additional Posts in Accounting Exit Opportunities
Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

I’d just say “I’m not available to meet in person currently but I’m open to continuing to connect via call/virtually if you come across an opportunity that seems like a good fit for me. I’ll let you know if my availability changes and an in person meeting makes sense”
Depends - do you want to eventually meet this person? Or are you not sure it’s worth it yet?
For the pushier people I usually will say “Let’s have a call to connect and make sure we are on the same page opportunity wise. If it makes sense to connect after that over coffee, we can do that.”
We had several calls already and they helped me got in some interviews a month ago while none of the positions are what I’m looking for. I feel awkward going at all because I moved on to other recruiters at this point.
Lol if you’re planning to be in audit for the long haul you’re gonna have a bad time if you can’t talk to people
Lol I’m in audit 10 years+ and still find it struggling to network with others
That in person meeting is a mock interview. They want to see how well you present yourself to see if they can put you in front of their clients for jobs. Go and treat it as an interview. If you don’t show up for that, you might not be considered for the best jobs that come their way. Sometimes in life you have to suck it up and work past things that make you feel uncomfortable. You might even find that your fear of going to this was way worse than the actual meeting.
I wonder if the two things are related….. not willing to meet the recruiter in person and the recruiter hasn’t found what you are looking for….
A good recruiter could handle this match with out needing to meet face to face.
This is probably not a good strategy to land another position.
