How to schedule a vacation with a looming trial? It keeps getting pushed out more and more, and it makes it tough to actually plan a trip. It’s currently scheduled for mid May and I want to plan a June trip, but there are talks of delaying trial again. This has been ongoing since September.

Im not a litigator just a Sr transactional associate. If something is important (wedding or similar) I lock that date months out and constantly remind folks as it nears. For a general vacation I typically plan it quickly based on my current workload. I.e. I took a trip to Iceland in early March which I planned mid Feb because I saw all my deals were closing around the same time and so id be free

I normally put the dates on the calendar and tell the partner on the matter and the court and the opposing counsel that I have a pre planned trip on that date so we can’t reschedule it to those dates.

Anyone hiring those who have been out of work for a year? I took time off to tend to personal matters, but I am now looking to get back into the workforce again. My previous experience includes time at B4 audit up to senior level and then transitioned to manager in industry. Senior/manager roles are preferred.

I don’t mind audit. However, I’d prefer it not to be at a B4, as I am looking for some semblance of a work life balance.

DM me if you have something above, thanks.

I have an offer for a company abroad. Originally they wanted me to fly out and start the day after Thanksgiving (not celebrated in their country), but because of the holidays I suggested starting in either December or January with the ability to take some holiday days in December to fly back home for Christmas. They then proposed starting out remotely “as soon as possible” in the US as a contractor and then moving abroad to start full time abroad. (Cont)

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!
