You will probably date again and possibly re-marry. The chances of an older female finding that are few and far between. She devoted her life to raising your kids instead of building a steady career. How is 50% not fair?
"Now, a woman can climb the corp ladder quicker than their male counterpart"....you are sorely mistaken and you are stuck in the 1950's....wake up, equality is a fight that we still fight every day, in many many ways - including fair and equal pay for women. Also, marriage is a partnership - it's not your money or hers, it is a partnership.
Or you can always pull an O.J.
So op are you paying two alimonies? Must be a partner damn!
OP lol that detail is huge. Okay things change then. She should have had a job if she wasn't stay at home mom
First wife had enough dignity to not ask for alimony. Just child support.
Yea bro...divorces happen. Not always the persons fault
Looks like op divorced the first wife, who seems like a good lady, and went for someone younger. Not a great idea.
Trying for 50/50. She's not having it.
This job doesn't help - we are usually driven, often workaholics and spend a lot of our time away from home. Divorce is pretty common in our game and if you are divorced snd get married again, your risk is higher.
End the divorce as quick as possible - lawyers are going to take a lot, longer it drags out. You may have to pay for her lawyer too. The courts do not favor men
I am so glad my parents had a good marriage! I took it for granted growing up.
She wants more?! No wonder she is an ex.
Instead of building a career and having a job that provides a decent living for her newly single self*
Sorry, into 51/49. Make sure she gets the bigger part of the flat screen
Good point. Didn't even think that! Get a lawyer OP. You got this
Watch Divorce Inc on Netflix a prenup is shit once kids come into the picture. Get a lawyer and be civil especially around the kids.
Hey as someone who might be getting married in the foreseeable future, is it like a point in time "half" distributed during a divorce or do you split assets forever? Do people ever give/lend their assets to family during divorce proceedings so the ex can't get at it? How does anyone prove what the sum total is/ so you really have to offer up your books to a judge??
You should have got a pre-nup, this is going to hurt
Buy lube
Depends on your state but bottom line is get a GREAT lawyer now and take his advice. In fact you should have done that before even beginning to negotiate.
Varies by state and if you had issues w her past spending, you should have raised at the time, not now. Split 50/50 and move on with grace.
