ADHD brainstorming sessions should come with a warning: “Ideas generated may never be completed.” We should get paid just to pitch concepts and let neurotypicals handle the execution.
Sounds like your strengths are played to on idea generation/vision/concept, so maybe the execution should go to someone else on the team that can collab with you recruiting your guidance on the vision. It’s almost 2 different skill sets.
It’ like you’re the AD/CD with a solid VISION, and you’d need some support from a designer on EXECUTION. A team comprised of you, a writer and designer would allow the effort to be shared by a creative TEAM.
Is it possible for you to get that dynamic next time? What are your thoughts on that?
I used to get stuck in the “idea graveyard” cycle—excited to start, then completely losing motivation once the novelty wore off. What’s helped me is accountability. I pair up with a colleague or set external deadlines so I can’t just abandon projects when they get boring. It doesn’t always work, but it helps me finish way more than I used to.
Our brains can think too macro, or too micro at times. To break down a project or concept, takes an incredible amount of practiced discipline to only deliver the minimal. In stages. With collaboration of others. The MVP (most viable product) is the best approach to control hyperfocus into a space before complete chaos and burnout. Because we want to deliver the awesome. We want to be the perfect planner and show what we’re are capable of, in consideration and in thinking 5 steps ahead of the viewer. Remember you don’t have to do it all on your own. Build allies and accomplish things together!
Do you lose the momentum when others are throwing up roadblocks, unable to see the vision, power struggles within the team, or if the project changes so much throughout the process you feel the vision is lost?
I lose my motivation when the client won’t approve anything or understand when they change one thing, it changes everything. I am a graphic designer.
Yes. I have a whole project graveyard.
I start things, sometimes they stick, lots of times they don’t.
Be cautious about the commitments you make to others, yet be easy on yourself. Sometimes you have to rely on others to hold yourself accountable. Set tiny achievable goals to move the project forward. The excitement may not come back fully, but small successes help.

Pair up with someone who complements your weaknesses with their strengths. You don't have to be all things to all people.
THat is pretty much where we all crash I presume haha. I am the exact same way. I have tons and tons of great ideas but following through with executing them is very very hard for me. If I could follow through then it would be game over for everyone else haha.
