I always feel a sense of anxiety whenever I hear the Slack, Teams, or Outlook notification sounds. It’s like an automatic visceral reaction, like “oh no, what now?”. The message is never actually all that bad though. Anyone else get this? I’m trying to reset and break the association.

On a Zoom call:
Colleague A: *begins talking*
Colleague B: *begins talking at the the same time as A*
Colleague B: "I'm sorry, A. Go ahead"
Colleague B: (said with much attitude) "No, B. You go ahead. I'm sure what you have to say is more important anyhow."
Everyone else on the call: *Stunned silence....*

I’m interviewing for BCG and had a principal reach out to me for a zoom chat. Is this normal for principals to reach out or is this a positive sign?

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

I love teaching art but am having to teach remotely to 1150 kids, k - 5. Have about 54 amazing elementary art teachers in my district that share SO much! I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

For the first time in my life, I know what I’m supposed to do at my job, with relationships around me and it’s all because the enormous sense of anxiety I used to experience evaporated during quarantine. I didn’t know that I lived with so much anxiety that it crippled me. I didn’t know I needed this time to myself.

I currently live in NYC and my lease is up in October. I’m thinking about moving my stuff back to my parents (decently close to the city) and finding a studio somewhere with decent weather through January. Companies especially startups expect you to not keep interviewing when you accept a job offer. “It can deteroriate your brand.”
