The easiest is real estate law if you get involved in commercial real estate/development. Family law there is a ton of business, but fees are low. Entertainment law has a small pool of clients in Toronto, so it's tough to build a practice.
As a family lawyer in Ontario, I would say real estate is easiest and less stressful. If you get 20 closings a month, it’s the equivalent of billing 100 hours a month roughly. And real estate is a lot less stressful. Immigration doesn’t pay crap also. It’s a lot of paperwork for no money and you have a saturated market with paralegals and immigration consultants. I wish I could switch to real estate now but I’m 4 years in and can’t afford a pay cut with switching to another area of practice. Good luck!
They do..it varies but standard amount charged to the client is around $1500 plus HST..but then you have to pay your office overheard and staff as well. But if you have 20 closings a month (roughly one every business day), you make $30,000 a month, and roughly $330,000 a year (if you take an average of 4 weeks off of work a year). I work my ass off billing in family and only made $260,000 last year for the firm. So I would highly recommend real estate law to anyone looking for an area of practice.
