I am an ED tech at a large magnet hospital in VA and base pay is $17.10/hr, anyone with more experience know if this is a normal pay rate? I also have a bachelors degree in health science, but I don’t really feel like I’m being paid fairly for 1 year EMT experience ITF along with a literal degree. I’m thinking about asking for a raise, but I don’t want to come off ungrateful and overstep normal pay range.

I feel like this is low.

Use your degree. ED tech, PCT, MA, CNA are notoriously underpaid.

That seems low to me.

OP that is really low even for that area. I would do some research and see what other hospitals are offering and either ask for a raise or look for something new. You should definitely be making atleast $20 if not more with your experience.

I think we should create a compensation thread in this bowl. It would help a lot of people who are planning to switch companies/jobs or who are moving to this region. Just a thought, since it’s one of the most common questions asked here.

I feel like I've been severely underpaid for the type of work I do even with the education, experience, etc; however, cost of living is extremely low in KY. Any advice?

I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.
