You maybe able to use points to upgrade. System wide upgrades don’t work on non American metal. Neither does your status help-if you’re having to use 500 mile upgrades domestically, you bet you can’t get upgrades automatically internationally
Both BA and Emirates allow cash/points for upgrade. Depending on your trip and how it’s broken up, I’d focus on the longest leg of the trip and try and upgrade that - also check seat availability on the various flights to see if you’re cramped in or if you could possibly have some space to spread out a bit.
Other than that - switch companies.
OP - if you make that amount, then I’d suggest you relook at the ticket that’s been booked and see if you can book it with one stop on one carrier - ideally Emirates. Their economy product is pretty decent, especially when compared to BA, if you do get stuck in econ.
Also, when you re-book, find a biz class special fare - no pickup service, no lounge, and less miles, but you get to sit in biz.
As for upgrades using points - call, better chances if you do.
Availability is also determined if you’re traveling in high-season or Low-season.
Lastly, if paying cash - keep in mind, $1K usually won’t cut it. Biz fares are usually 5-10x higher than econ.
Good luck.
Why ‘made to go’? What firm? Isn’t there a policy against this? Read up!
Not at Capgemini. The EY policies of business for >8 hours, receipts for <75 are all long gone. The only thing to try is to see if you do a side upgrade with miles but I’ve rarely seen that succeed..
That’s what I was gonna say as well ^
For personal reasons, where do you work?
It’s a mixture of length of flight and your level.
Claim cruel and unusual punishment
Accenture does this shit for everyone below Senior Manager. It's unreal
I kinda do too. PwC let you do it regardless of level
Unfortunately where I work the company policy is to pay difference out of pocket. Economy ticket already booked and it’s 22 hours of flying time.
They do not allow anything but economy. Everything else is paid by points or cash from you to upgrade
We’ll get a neck roll and pray that no one sits next to you. Most of all “Sucks to be you"
Don’t forget an Ambien or Lunesta!
That must be a job with what they call self-fulfillment?
Walmart
For international flights you either pay or use points for the upgrade. With AA you could use a global award upgrade but it won’t work on emirates or ba flights.
I’ve done that but you need to buy for each leg and expensing that / explaining that can me problematic unless you lock 1-2 legs to upgrade.
I did premium economy on BA to HYD from the states recently, wasn't terrible honestly.
I called and premium economy is sold out
Sounds like Walmart
Ask around to see if someone has a upgrade you can use
That’s why I am posting here. If I knew someone with an upgrade I would not be posting
I am going to pray there is a cash upgrade I can pay for at the airport. I’m willing to spend $1k each way
