I am considering pivoting from a transformation consultant role to a GTM one and am interested in hearing some crowdsourced pros and cons of the move— from a current and long term perspective.

GTM? Get That Money?

funny

Go to market (sales/ strategy)

Let’s talk here, how feasible do you think that move is actually going to be. What kind of transformation work have you done that translates into GTM?

I have worked on the deal team of complex large dollar value pursuits, many of which were made up of prominent partners ie practice/ division leads etc. I currently have offers to join some of their teams (incl role in newly formed GTM group of ~15 staff within largest business line- multi bn)

Hey Googlers. Currently going through the interview process and got there via referral. Im just curious how serious the actual referral is taken when considering someone for a job/interview? For example at B4 a referral just gets you a look at HR and the text of the referral and who it’s from doesn’t matter at all, it’s more of a checking a box exercise to get HRs attention. Is it the same at Google or is it more significant?

I went T2>MBB and am thinking of going back to T2 because I prefer to aim for partner (MBB is not sustainable for me) rather than taking industry exit... Is this a dumb move? I’ll be dropping pay slightly but with better working hours one step below partner vs industry at ‘head of’ level...

Was hired into a company at a level that was more junior than my skills (Was out of work due to pandemic for a year). I’ve been at the company 5 months. We’re going through a reorg and my new position will really be leveraging my years of experience more so than other role. Is it appropriate to discuss a raise/adding senior to title? Or should I do the job and then prove myself then talk about raise. I have more experience than the senior members of my team.

Applied for an SM position at pwc and interviewers mentioned that it is for an SM position as well. But the offer came out as M. Recruiter said it is just a title and doesn’t have any implications but more I look, it does look like an downgrade. Is this common? I am currently an SM and it is in tech consulting area.

Trying to exit into FAANG but know it may be a long shot involving a handful of rejections. Meanwhile got approached by a number of recruiters for a) smaller emerging startup <but need to shift geo>, and b) major banks for in-house strategy. I’ll proceed with interviews with a) since it will give me a flavour of tech recruiting, but should I even go through with interview process for b)? Thoughts? Fyi, have not interviewed in 4+ years!
