I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in finance and I graduate next august. I have about two years professional experience in I.T working helpdesk as an analyst. I was trying to figure out the best route to take for my career. I would love to go into finance, wealth management, or asset management. I would even do financial analysis. Is it usually this hard to get looked at for internships? I am from Louisiana about an hour from New Orleans. Any possible companies or internships?

I would like to learn more about development and real estate. Can anyone recommend any books or courses that you think are informative. Eventually I would like to own a few apartment buildings, but I know there is a lot I need to learn 1st. Any advice appreciated.

To all who have exited from life sciences consulting, what firm did you work at, what did you exit into, and how is it going?

Accepting an offer in IBD, lateraling over from consulting. Opportunity of a lifetime for me so don’t want to lose it.
But timing is horrible. I joined the Army Reserves before this opportunity was on my radar. Interviewed over several months, got the offer, but shipping out in 1 month for training for 6 months.
Do I irreversibly shoot my career by joining and immediately going on LoA? I obviously haven’t mentioned it in the interview process. Or will this be forgotten a couple years in?

Currently 31 with 6.5 YOE and single . Should have NW of 250k by end of this year. (No significant assets in India). Considering this money all reminds invested I should have a decent nest egg for retirement. Have an LIC policy that will be worth arnd 50 lakhs when I surrender it (plan down payment for an apartment). Struggling to convince parents this should be enough for me to move back. Can someone please for the love of god help me figure out how I can pay less income taxes? I only make 88k and I put the 12k standard deduction but I’m still getting taxed 27% of my paychecks! My sign on bonus (20 even) a few months ago was taxed nearly 45%! Excuse my ignorance, but am I doing something wrong? Will increasing deductions help or should I increase the withholdings?
