Bain & Company I’m from Italy and will start my master’s degree at Oxbridge this fall. I got my undergrad from a target uni in continental Europe. I want to start my career in consulting, possibly MBB, in London. I know consulting firms tend to hire locally but I’d really like to work in London and that’s also one of the main reasons why I went for the Oxbridge degree. Anyone, who might have some tips, or went through a similar experience? McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company

Remembrance of Earth’s Past Trilogy (The Three Body Problem, The Dark Forest and Death’s End) by Cixin Liu is one of the best trilogies in sci-fi.
(Side note: I’m so excited to see it being adapted into a series on Netflix)
The Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin is next on my list and it comes highly recommended by a friend whose recommendations I trust.
Anna Karenina - Not sci-fi, but it is one of the greatest books ever written.

I found all of the references to old video games quite fun honestly, but to each their own.
The movie was terrible though
Sounds like you enjoy sci-fi, so I'd recommend Storm light Archive (series)
A long way to a small angry planet

Thank you. Just finished it based on this rec - did you read/recommend the whole series?

Just cut to the chase and pick up Brandon Sanderson already, the rest of us did already

Give the name of the wind a try (it’s similar to the hobbit but better)
Project Hail Mary for sure.
If you've not read Welcome to the Monkey House, that's also a super fun sci-fi-adjacent read.

I didn't personally like the Martian. Wife & many others I know did though it was maybe too high % potatoes for me.
What did you think of Project Hail Mary as a comparison to the Martian?

I know you said, not fantasy/magic, but if you like satire and sarcasm - give Sir Terry Pratchett a try as he makes fun of everything in this world through the characters of his own.
And of course: Douglas Adams The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
An artist's rendering of the discworld.

Next or Micro if you like Crichton already
