We will both owe taxes in excess of the current $7,500 cap (will see if that increases with the new budget bill). If we both own the car (i.e. both names on the title), how do we manage filing for the tax credit when filing separately? Do we just pick one of us to file? Is there guidance on splitting the credit across owners? Does it matter what order our names are on the title?
