Focus on any other sales jobs you've had. The more similar to solar panels, the better. Maybe something like satellite TV systems, cellphones, or working in a utility company. Even retail experience -- hardware, lumber, lawn & garden, sporting goods, major appliances -- could provide skills that transfer to the solar industry. Sales is sales. Same crap just different flies.
It's typically hard to break into a very specific industry if you don't have the knowledge and experience to justify being picky. I think a better use of your time would be to try to land ANY entry-level sales role regardless of the industry. Once you have even 6-12 months of experience, you can start considering applying to other roles.
If you don’t mind my asking, why solar sales? I have been seeing some postings recently for them and don’t know much about it. Definitely emphasize your sales experience. Try to make connections in how you do well with different areas and can do well in this one. Best of luck!
Too many times after the sale, there are too many customer complaints anout the installation, missing batteries that take months to arrive and more money after the sale due to bidenomics.
Emphasize that you don’t care at all about door knocking and you’ll get the job because that’s what all those jobs are
Might as well see if they're still doing the Kirby vacuum thing and you can sell a Kirby vacuums too or I mean no disrespect anybody but you could also become Mormon at the same time you can do all that
Solar sales are decreasing as the hazardous waste issues with defunct panels are making themselves known

Highlight your transferable skills (such as communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, etc) and give examples of how you successfully used these skills in previous roles
In my experience they hire just about anybody as long as you’re friendly. Experience doesn’t matter, your work ethic does.
Start as a solar appt setter. This is an industry you’ll want prior knowledge in. Or as many say- work in another type of sales job for at least a year prior. You’ll need a strong sales background & at least some solar experience to have success. This isn’t the type of sales job you’ll want to go in blindly. There’s much to know & learn. But, if you invest in that knowledge- you can earn incredible money & have a long term career success with advancement.
