Hello! New to this space and currently looking into Associate Brand Manager/Marketing roles within the industry.
I have one year of contract experience at EA with the rest as an in-house marketer at both a Fintech company and Marketing Consulting Firm.
Know competition is fierce as I look to come back full time. Any advice in regards to how to stand out to get that first call?
(Referrals to EA, Bethesda Studios, Epic Games, Amazon Games, and Microsoft also welcome!)

ADD and ADHD are the same thing. ADD is the old name. While ADHD contains the word “hyperactivity” there are three different presentations of the disorder and you don’t have to have hyperactive symptoms to meet the diagnostic criteria. The words “attention deficit” are also often under debate, since people with ADHD don’t generally have a lack of attention, we have difficulties regulating our attention. It’s just a poor name overall. Many people propose that a more appropriate name for the disorder would be something like Executive Functioning Disorder or Attention Regulation Disorder.
I think the problem is that the name ADHD doesn’t describe the main symptoms or challenges at all. Not only that, it creates a false picture of what the disorder is for people who don’t have it, or even people who think they don’t but might. I didn’t get diagnosed for years because I thought there was no way I could have something that made 5 year old boys run around with unlimited energy and not listen to directions. Turns out that’s not the only presentation and probably not even the most common presentation. So many people have been dismissed or dismissed themselves while spending decades searching for what it could be that makes them different and why they can’t seem to fix it. No, we aren’t going to get a perfect name that encompasses everyone’s detailed experience, because symptoms are experienced on a spectrum. However, the name should probably describe the main characteristics of the disorder, and currently it doesn’t. I don’t see anything wrong with changing the name. It shows evolution in our understanding.
I think I get what you’re saying but ADD is the outdated clinical term. Are you saying you primarily struggle with the attention side? What else happens. Do you feel like it’s hindering your work performance??
Yes. I struggle with the attention side, but I don't let it affect my work.
