Yeah people want to feel like they came up with it themselves
I get it. It's a game but it's seriously strapping our efficiency and trust.
They're just trying to keep you humble... And failing
The tech fishbowl is in the pipeline but this one is surely way more entertaining anyway. There's a google guy too. Anyway, it seems frustrating now but you'll have good fodder for "tell me about a time when you influenced a team/had an innovative solution/stuck to your guns when the team voted against you" type interview questions
A lot of mid management folks are as dumb as a brain dead cow. Their model to succeed is to negate what others say and steal ideas
C1 disagree with you. Our job is not "only" help them but also also grow ourselves and firm along with it. Having such an environment is very discouraging
Wait Microsoft is in here? That's dope. Totally get that humility should be there. But I become humble when an idea is shut down tactfully not when someone else uses it and it could have saved us effort if it was done earlier.
You should be happy that they're going with "your idea", who cares how you get there. Our job is to help them and get paid, no one said anything about getting credit.
D1, I absolute agree with your point, growing ourselves and the firm is the end goal. But this is independent of "getting credit" in the eyes of the client. My point is that getting to a positive end state should be all the encouragement you need, regardless of who gets the credit in a client meeting. We're consultants, we can craft whatever narrative we want with our own teams.
