I applied for a position at another company, directly on their website on Friday. The position was added to their job board on Thursday. When I checked the website again on Saturday, the job posting was taken down. I found that odd that a job posting would only stay up for about a day or so.

They already had an internal candidate, most likely, and were just posting online for process purposes

like

That is what I was thinking, but just wanted to be sure

It is not uncommon for them to have an internal candidate in mind like the person above said, but have company policy that requires them to advertise for a certain length of time, and even sometimes interview a certain number of external candidates. It is one of the many frustrating parts of job hunting.

yep. Luckily I have a FT job, just not much job growth unless I relocate, which I am unable to do at the moment. And I can be a little picky about which positions I apply for.

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

High likelihood that that person tells the interviewers I’ve reached to get intel. Is it OK/fair game for me to contact this person or not?

I’ve been with my current company for a little over 5 years now and since the start of the pandemic have been WFH. I absolutely love WFH and have always wanted a position in which I could WFH. There is talk of bringing everyone back to the office full time and that’s not what I would like to happen. I’ve been searching for a new position in which it would be a remote role. My current company also said I am maxed out in term of what they are willing to pay salary wise.

Hi all,

Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both
KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.

Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.

Thanks!
