Do you mean at the same company? If they have a competent HR they already know but I certainly wouldn't keep it as a "secret"
Yes same company. I assumed HR already know but more like, I'm not sure if I should tell the direct team hiring managers now or wait until I've been rejected from the first position, then pursue the other opportunity.
So wouldn't be keeping it secret, almost a choice of whether to be truthful now or later (since I'd have been rejected from the first position, it wouldn't technically count as being a part of the interview process anymore).
I would normally do so but thought it might have some sort of advantage to know I'm good enough to be in a final round interview for a similar position in a another role in the business or they could discuss amongst the teams and it'd be a win win overall? Or am I being naive?
Its a big company so unsure how much overlap the two teams would have on the day to day to already be in communication about it.
Yes, be honest. If anything, the fact that you’re in the pipeline for another company may expedite their interview process (if they really like you). Further, you may be able to use it in negotiations.
If you’re good, being honest here is very unlikely to hurt you or likely will help you
