I asked to have a discussion about getting a raise...two weeks ago. They said there's a process that they have to follow and that they'll discuss it with their marital partner (also business partner) and go from there.

According to my coworker who not long ago asked for (and received) a raise, the boss didn't mention anything about there being a 'process'.

Should I just cut my losses and prepare to look for new employment? For background, I've been with this company for nearly 14 years.

This sounds like a small business, so guessing it’s not an actual formal process. It just sounds like either they need to do some analysis to see if they can afford it, whether they think you are worth it and whether this is fair to your other colleagues.

Maybe wait and follow up, see what they say before finding new employment? In your next discussion, maybe also think about what is in it for your manager if their give you a raise? Is there some other benefit they will receive apart from your continued employment?

I have a really great production coordinator that’s working under me and because of money issues, he hasn’t been given a raise or promotion in nearly two years. He works his ass off and everyone loves working with him. Does any know of any junior producer roles at agencies? Would love to help him out.

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?

Perspective: monogamy is anti-human nature; in this era where each parent could raise a kid independently, marriage tends to be a shackle on many aspects of life. We live once, why does society expect us to live with 1 person for 60+ years? No wonder divorce rates are through the roof!
