They will be getting only CEO bonus...

1/3 of collections - it doesn’t matter if they bill you out at $1,000/hour if the client isn’t going to pay it. Salary is usually a number low enough for the firm to safely collect 3x your salary, and then bonus is used to “true up” your comp if your collections are better than your salary assumed.

The typical law firm model: 1/3 of collections pays the person who did the work, 1/3 goes to firm overhead (rent, non-billable staff, website, insurance, etc.) and 1/3 is partner profit. Bring in billable/collectible work, become a partner and make more money.
and coincidentally, those are exactly the numbers that apply to a book as well
Is that the reason why firms don’t like mid and senior associates in ID defense firms, bc those associates are higher on the pay scale, but the numbers don’t add up in profits?
I think in ID firms the firm management will increase hours requirements to cover the additional salary for more mid to senior level people.
