Very true. However, just having the degree, doesn’t mean anything. I have an MBA who works for me who can hardly spell his own name. It’s bad. 20 years of experience, and I have brand new employees coming and running him under the table.
Lol
Absolutely
Connections, who you're related to, where you went to school, all that is more important than what you know. But that's the way it's always been and always will be. The advantage of getting an MBA isn't really to learn whatever is learned, it's to establish that you put in time in a certain atmosphere. And, presumably, you did a lot of networking and made the connections you will need.
I went from a sales role I hated to now making great money in consulting and enjoying it much more. I believe I was capable of doing this work before getting my MBA, but the MBA was the key to getting my foot in the door at my first consulting org. Kind of a shame that I had to spend all that money just to prove I’m worth a damn but…say lah vee
It’s bc the labor market is overcrowded and companies don’t have the capacity to vet every application they get with as much detail as they’d like. JP Morgan gets hundreds of thousands of applications a year just for their internship programs, it’s just not possible. Schools serve as the first filter for companies to narrow down the applicant pool, it’s simply a time/resource constraint.
This is something that your high school or family should have taught you, you’re realizing this too late
Its never too late.
