I find it always amazing that these holier than thou DEI organizations talk until they are blue in the face about empowerment, yet the moment I or someone else steps up to ask the question, “how can I help, I know of someone who is great for this organization,” they go, “thanks but no thanks, ‘ally’ ”. In summary, I reached out to one of these big orgs because their convention is coming to my town. I volunteer locally with honors HS kids and asked if they needed volunteers. Got the stink eye.

I'm in desperate need of tips to get genuine buy in from our predominantly white, male senior leadership to create a more inclusive environment. As is often the case, middle management and below is very diverse and then at Director+ it gets much more homogeneous. So far any real initiatives get shot down in favor of performative actions to post on SM. Is this just how it is, or can we try something different?

Working on introducing ERGs at a company- how did your company decide the first ERGs to start with? How did they communicate the start of ERGs and roll out the structure?

I used a tool at my last company that worked tremendously well in helping me resolve conflict with a co-worker and I would love to bring it into my new company - its an Ombuds platform.

I am frustrated as a Gay Woman who has given her all for 30+ years grinding to be the best. I have been in closet, out of closet, in-between and am tired of it. I want to be VALUED as a human being. Working at a company and they can’t seem to hold on to their female, black and people of color employees. I blinked and 3 of the people who were in my onboarding class were either fired or they left. For context I’ve been in company less than a year and there are people who have been in the company 25yrs. I’m thinking of cutting loose before it gets to my turn.
