Because DEI is a cruel joke. Dont worry... much like real estate agents, we'll learn an overwhelming majority of them don't really do anything or add value and will be wiped out when the 2024 recession hits.
My q too… why in the world did you join a D&I bowl… just to bully DEI professionals? Very mature!

Curious- who in the org did you reach out to with your idea?

That’s great that you are volunteering your time— and I appreciate the frustration… you see the opportunity and mysteriously they don’t (or don’t prioritize it, or don’t have the resources and bandwidth to do more than they are doing, if a small nonprofit.) Sometimes it’s a matter of who you connect with in the organization. Is there an HR rep you can speak to about internships? Maybe a workforce development program manager? Or invite them in to speak to your students so they get to know your students before they are asked to offer internships?
Sorry you had that experience but when there's many inputs coming in, they may have to say no.
Doubtful… and the event is 10 months away without much info on their website
I’m really sorry you had that experience. A lot of organizations do great work, but they don’t know how to leverage volunteers properly. I wouldn’t let this discourage you from continuing the great work that I’m sure you’re doing with the highschoolers in your area!
Oh I’ll continue to do what I do. I just don’t have a lot of respect for these types of groups. I see it all the time
