There is software (and hardware) that you can use that will keep you “active”
But it’s pathetic that a company cares about this
Geez. Tell them “they are a piece of shit”, like that Meta employee in the virtual town hall hot mic.

That’s so pathetic and shows no trust whatsoever. I would leave. The best work comes when people have time to think and reflect about the problem they’re trying to solve.
Yes HCLTech is one of those companies
I too needed time away from my desktop to think. Here’s what I decided to do.
- Open up notepad,
- find a couple of small coins
- get a small weighted object. (I used a slim 12oz sanitizer bottle)
Now place the coins on a key while in notepad. Steadily place the weight on the coins. You should see the one key consistently repeat in notepad.
Walk away once you feel that your machine will stay awake.
Another option is to obtain an external mouse jiggler.
Don’t get me wrong. But there are employers and even employees and for no good reason who enjoy monitoring your activity to report to your manager. “Damn Rats!”
Set yourself up to DND or Busy.
However, I met my goals and exceeded them as well. But of you’re working remotely you’ll find you’ll need to just take a break to clear your mind.
can’t solve company culture. if you end up getting a mouse mover, get one that rotates the mouse in random intervals
