I had a Bain interview today. My first case study went great - interviewer said excellent framework and that I did a great job (unprompted). Second case however… I think my structure was good and initial chart reading fine, but I took a while for the maths before I finally asked if I could round.

Then for a follow up maths question, I had the right logic, but made a calculation error. The interviewer directed me another way and I managed, but can’t help but feel it’s over

You did an interview and your interviewer apologized that the travel time 180minutes was much higher than 30minutes scheduled time for the interview and that It could have been done remotely, but she has to follow the process. I am still waiting for feedback though.

Made the pivot from Big 4 to Bain and frankly underwhelmed. Seems like Bains Ops capabilities / general knowledge resources / white papers are lagging the industry quite a bit. Miles behind BCG / McKinsey as well. Literally only good for PE and nothing else.

What’s the bar of passing the first round at McKinsey like? if I didn’t do well in the same part of a cases for both interviews (ie reading graphs for high level insights and implications) would that be even worse than having different performance across other areas (ie not doing well in A on case 1 but not doing well in B on case 2)? I thought the quant was fine but i dont think i did well on graph reading for either cases. Pei was also fine and so was the rest of the case
