I had my performance review a few weeks ago. I asked for an increase and was told by my manager that they were asked and did give my name to comp for this increase cycle. They said they will bring it up to the manager again. When the did, the manager spoke to Comp and they said I wasn’t eligible for an increase because I was promoted last year. I was upset but there wasn’t much I could do. The also said that there might not be any bonuses this year as their company hasn’t approve them these yet

Cont.. later I found out that both my manager and their manager have recd a merit increase. My manager was promoted 2 years ago and recd a raise the year after as well as this year. How can I tackle this situation? Should I even bring it up to them? Or is it best to look for a new job?

I’m actually not. So our cycle is usually in May but it was bumped up to March this year. It really is just a technicality.

That sounds really crappy. I think I would be looking for something else if I were you. Being ineligible for a raise because you got promoted last year is BS.

What would you say is a larger raise? Anything upwards of 9-10%?

I'm in a litigation, about 9 months in. Is it normal that I spend majority of my time making bundles for my partners (printing, binding, moving docs in a different order whenever there are new documents or he wants to add stuff) reviewing documents and making tables (e.g. dates, which documents are from where), and the only legal work is like notices of admission, list of documents, the occasional research? I'm so bored and I want to quit but I don't know if I have unrealistic expectations.

Hi all!
Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

Have you ever taken a career slow down? I am feeling burnt out from COVID and the incremental responsibilities thrown my way over the last 5+ years. I feel like my health has deteriorated. I like my company, but I want to do less. I don’t need to be a HR Director, CHRO, etc. With a career slowdown, I am prepared for a lower compensation and would want decent benefits. Any lessons learned or success stories about career slowdowns?
