I hate the world “guncle.” It makes me sick to my stomach. Someone called me one today - I have 8 nephews / nieces. I do not want to be called a guncle. Curious if anyone else dislikes this term?

Feels like the lack of fulfillment hit me all at once. Mid-20s and finally shed the attachment to perfectionism but realized it’s all that motivated me. Now what…? All the stories I hear of people leaving consulting are because they are sick of it, not because they’ve found a spark elsewhere. Not very inspiring

Hi! I need some help negotiating a raise. I have been working for this company for exactly 3 months now, but I was hired as an AGM. I'm not specific on what my responsibilities are as AGM.
However the GM at the time, quit 1 and a half months in. I was thrown into the role and have been handling it since.
My regional calls himself our GM but is never on site.
Was reluctant to cover my shifts when I became sick and requested time off for a few days. (4 days)
Any thoughts?

Convinced that I have excessive daytime sleepiness — anyone here dealt with the same as a medical condition? How did you solve? To be clear, caffeine and even amphetamines do NOT help me. The drowsiness hits at around 2 pm every single day no matter how much sleep I get and is absolutely debilitating. My ability to concentrate disappears, and god help me if I’m scheduled for a meeting at that time in a warm conference room. Performance is definitely being negatively impacted. Please help? 😴😴😴

They lost clients as the clients got sick of seeing a new associate on their files every 6 months. The founding partner was near retirement so his goal was to maximize revenue rather than long term career development. I don’t see this as sustainable especially given millennial culture emphasis on work-life balance.

Has anyone ever gone on disability at a law firm where you’re the only paralegal to the partner of the firm? I’m worried I’ll be replaced while I’m out or that I’ll be letting him down. I’m already behind on my workload so I can imagine how backed up and out of touch I will be when I come back. I don’t want to let him down. I’ve been with the firm 5 years and I’m really his right hand. But I am concerned about it.

My school deliberately cut the number of classes that the specials teachers teach so that we could be building subs for quarantined and sick teachers (we are hybrid). So... I teach fewer classes (which is a relief because specials teachers teach way more classes than core teachers normally) but I'm pulled for most of my planning periods to babysit classes.
