No offense but look at the state of healthcare in this country… and you were in a leadership role contributing to the current state. No one can afford it. The quality has been trending downwards for awhile. Americans are sicker than ever before. And the US public now perceives “corporate healthcare” to be a four letter word.
If you were on the provider side well I hate to break it to you but outside your bubble it has a major reputation problem now … no one cares that your big healthcare system was non profit or for profit because they act the same. Jack up the charges to the payors … shove massive deductibles onto patients and charge unconscionable list prices to the self-pays and then hunt them down until the very end. You might want to distance yourself or say how you’re different and shouldn’t be lumped in with big pharma, big tech, and big healthcare.
I completely agree with this thoughtful response and believe population health is the driving mechanism for real healthcare results. So happy my daughter hustled in grad school in every job that was global health related as she is profoundly secure and happy in her global health job today, even getting a promotion soon!

I agree totally with your summary. I am having a similar experience and unemployed for 13-14 months. Thank you for sharing your experience as you are not alone. I have strong considered a career shift, but not certain where after almost 30 years in healthcare. Do you have a plan b?
I have been looking for a job for 5 months and haven't been able to find anything either. I would suggest networking and trying to get referrals. That has at least gotten me some interviews. Best of luck to you.
Why are you unemployed after 25 years?
