I have a finance degree, and I’m proficient in Excel and SQL. How long does it take to get the hang of R? Any recommendations on learning resources? R is a preferred skill for this financial analyst role I’m applying for at a tech firm.

DataCamp and Udemy would be my recommendations. Udemy should help you learn the basics. DataCamp has a skills track - Finance Fundamentals in R (I think it’s 6 courses in total) that might be helpful for the role you’re targeting. Good luck.

Thank you. This is helpful!

Really depends on your experience with programming. I think 2-3 months you can get the hang of it.

I forgot to mention. I also have basic knowledge of C++.

I found R way simpler, just antique.

Try python? Free code camp

I don’t think they are comparable. Python is used widely in applications and performance can be optimized.

Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group is too slow. For anything you wanna do inside the organization, 12 months of tenure is required. Even for promotions its the same no matter hoew exceptionally you perform.

Whereas Bain & Company has no such minimum tenure requirement. My colleague got promoted in 4th months of joining right out of college.
